8 days/ 7 nights: Shillong, Cherrapunjee, Daoki, Mawlynnong, Kaziranga, Guwahati
Assam is a state in north-eastern India known for its wildlife, archaeological sites and tea plantations. In the west, Guwahati, Assam’s largest city features silk bazaars and the hilltop Kamakhya Temple. Umananda Temple sits on Peacock Island in the Brahmaputra River. The state capital, Dispur, is a suburb of Guwahati.
The vibrant and happening land of Assam possesses a significant position in the map of India. Blessed with immaculate natural beauty of the wild, peaceful villages, and lush green tea gardens, this North-Eastern state calls every enthusiastic traveller to get bathed in its scenic charm. The historical monuments at Sibsagar, the ancient temples at the heart of Umananda, the tea gardens of Jorhat and the wildlife population of Kaziranga paint the canvas of Assam with vibrant shades. In addition to that, the diverse population and distinctive cultural panorama of Assam brought it the stature of the most happening state of North-East India. The dance forms like Bihu, Bagarumba, Ali-Ai-Ligang, and Jhumur Nach are particular to Assam only and hardly have been into limelight. Also, the food habit, cuisines and desserts prepared here are much distinctive than rest of the country.
BEST TIME TO VISIT ASSAM
Best Time to Visit Assam is November to May, at this time, cool winds from Himalaya reduce the heat and humidity of area. March to May is for those who want to give relax to their eyes with orchid blossom, and at that time (mid April) you can witness the traditional festival of Assam Bihu with the joy of Bihu dance. But surely avoid, time of June to September. Due to heavy rainfall in monsoon season, Brahmaputra River banks led to flood and whole state suffers by this. Even I would say do not visit any part of North East in Monsoon, it is risky and even you can’t go out of your hotel rooms for sightseeing.
